Haiku Collection vol. V

short wave radio
frog's morning swim sets off
rings of pond water
---
an evening so clear
you can almost reach out
touch the moon
---

Runner up in The International Academic Forum

snowflakes drift down
some melt on a hare's nose
others survive
---

twisted brilliance
neither the woodpecker or
the chainsaw stole it
---
after the grey days
blinding spring sun appears
like striking a match
---
a stirring sight
starlings over the field
re-invent the sky
---
almost!
dog in the park gives up
his squirrel chase
---
spring and old friends
familiar birds with tales of
far away countries
---
a bridge to summer
snowdrops venturing out
to freezing March
---
migrating skylark
won't question spring's arrival
but I do!
---
fieldfare by its nest
puts squirrel in its place
frenzied noises
---

a clear Arctic night
staring at the milky way
counting every star
---
thousands of stars
each one filling a hole
in sky's blanket
---
letter from the wind
the pond has been posted
a piece of paper
---
spring light at night
pale blue sky before dark
song of the blackbird
---

branches loom dark
pure moonlight illuminates
pristine snow
---
sun and melting snow
winter throws its white cape off
daffodils bask
---
frozen water
like an intricate textile
shrouds the brook
---
the murky river
lined by the zing of yellow
daffodils are back
---
sight of spring sun
burns into your retina
no finer mishap
---
spring sun
shot down by hailstones
blackbird takes cover
---
the thermometer
exclaims it's still midwinter
but snowdrops don't lie
---
cloud after cloud
each one loaded with surprises
hailstones, sleet or rain?
---
melted snow
like a scar in the landscape
evolves into spring
---
evening clouds
tone down the aggression
promise of summer
---
